History
Alternative Lighting & Technical Solutions Africa (ALTSA) was formed in 2010 by a group of highly accomplished Industrial Engineers on a mission to address the growing need for more sustainable and efficient energy solutions.
Product Range
ALTSA distributes its own SABS-approved, high-quality range of lamps and luminaires, locally assembled in South Africa.

SABS
The South African Bureau of Standards SABS is a South African statutory body that was established in terms of the Standards Act, 1945. The SABS plays a critical role in ensuring safety, quality, and reliability of products and services in South Africa, and in promoting international trade through compliance with global standards.
IEC
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) authors international standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies. This standards collection addresses product development, performance, compatibility and related topics in order to ensure product compatibility and environmental safety.
FCC Declaration of Conformity
The FCC Declaration of Conformity or the FCC label or the FCC mark is a certification mark employed on electronic products manufactured or sold in the United States which certifies that the electromagnetic interference from the device is under limits approved by the Federal Communications Commission.
Australian EMC regulations
Compliance with the Australian EMC regulations is mandatory and they apply to almost all electronic products supplied to the Australian market. Application of the RCM / C-Tick mark signifies compliance with appropriate Australian EMC standard.
TÜV SÜD
TÜV SÜD is a world leader in product testing and certification. We provide testing to international standards and directives that are endorsed by leading quality and safety marks.
CE marking
CE marking is a mandatory conformity marking for certain products sold within the European Economic Area (EEA) since 1985. CE marking recognizable worldwide, it is in that sense similar to the FCC Declaration of Conformity used on certain electronic devices sold in the United States.
Underwriters Laboratories.
UL is an American worldwide safety consulting and certification company, known as Underwriters Laboratories. UL participates in the safety analysis of many new technologies, drafting of safety standards for electrical devices and components.
Low Voltage Directive (LVD)
The Low Voltage Directive (LVD) 2006/95/EC is one of the oldest Single Market Directives adopted by the European Union before the “New” or ” Global ” Approach. The Directive provides common broad objectives for safety regulations, so that electrical equipment approved by any EU member country will be acceptable for use in all other EU countries.
RoHS
RoHS is the acronym for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. Directive 2002/95/EC, originated in the European Union and restricts the use of specific hazardous materials found in electrical and electronic products.
